“Around the campus”
Washington
College Academy is situated on a beautiful historic campus
of approximately 120 acres in the rolling foothills of the magnificent
Appalachian Mountains in Upper East Tennessee. It is located just
7 miles southwest of historic Jonesborough, the oldest town in
the state and site of an annual storytelling festival. Just 20
miles northeast you will find Johnson City and access to bountiful
shopping opportunities. The Academy has access to a large regional
airport just 35 miles northeast of the campus. The Town of Greeneville,
home of the 17th President, Andrew Johnson, is just 15 miles southwest
of the campus. The location of the campus provides a strong impact
on available activities for the student and visitor.
Due to
the close proximity to East Tennessee State University,
Milligan College, Tusculum College, semi-professional baseball
facilities, and Historic Barter Theater in Abingdon, Virginia,
the Academy provides a wide variety of activities for visitors,
including lectures, plays, concerts, athletic events, and special
programs. In addition there is the option of visiting historical
sites, museums, or hiking and camping in the natural mountain
environment.
