“The New Leadership”
Washington College Academy, since January 1, 2003,
has undergone an extensive revamping of its leaders. There is
a new president and numerous new members of the board. The Board
of Trustees has increased back to a number of 16 members at present.
Approximately 75% of the current board are graduates or former
teachers and are working very hard with the new president to make
the Academy prominent once again.

“The Rise of the Phoenix”
We are very excited about the future for Washington College Academy. We like to think of the new beginning as "The Rise of the Phoenix." Just as the mythical Phoenix rose from its own ashes, we see our beloved Academy once again taking flight and soaring like the "Eagles" that we are. Since January 1, 2003, the ACE (Adult Continuing Education) Program has been successfully implemented and is continuing to attract students. Classes offered thus far are Advanced Computing, Aerobics & Fitness, Appalachian Guitar, Art-Ceramics, Art-Design, Art-Oil Painting, Art-Quilting, Art-Stained Glass, Basic Computing, English as a Second Language, History-Early East Tennessee, History-Civil War East Tennessee, Intermediate Computing, Personal Financial Planning and Spanish-Conversational.
We have also implemented a Baseball/Softball
Academy, Washington College Marlins Baseball/Softball Academy,
for young people of all ages. This program appears to be a fast
starter and promises to be a very popular program for Washington
College Academy. For more details on this program, please see
our Athletics Link or Our Programs Link on
this site.
Our GED Program (Graduate Equivalency Diploma)
is a great success in the community. Since we implemented the
program in the autumn of 2003, we have produced some fine graduates.
These students will make a fine addition to our Alumni Association
and we are very proud to say that we are making a difference
in our community.
The TOUCH Home School Association (Teach Our
Unique Children at Home) is currently meeting here on campus
once a month. These children are the best, well-mannered children
that you would ever want to meet. The parents of this association
are excellent at what they are trying to accomplish and are doing
a great job with the children. It is really great to have children
such as this back on campus!
Our future plans include a 500 Thousand
Campaign .
We would truly love to have our "Classical Christian " Academy
open and operating in the autumn of 2007. Granted, this is a
lofty goal, however we believe that with God and the community
helping us, we can accomplish this.
